Can’t decide between a sedan or an SUV? Why not split the difference with a hatchback? In addition to being very easy to drive, it offers ample space.
When you go with the new Mazda3 hatchback, you’ll get quite a few more enticing features and amenities.
Power and Performance
The base engine in the Mazda3 is a 186-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit. The other option is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that raises that horsepower to 227 (250 with premium gas).
A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, but a six-speed manual is available. Front-wheel drive is also standard, but the turbo engine comes with all-wheel drive.
The Mazda3 is a blast to drive, and Edmunds says “there's more than enough good here to make it worth checking out, especially if you enjoy a small car with extra oomph.”
Space and Cargo
The Mazda3 hatchback seats five comfortably, and synthetic leather upholstery is standard. Heated front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat are available. While the sedan offers 13.2 cubic feet of trunk space, the hatchback has 20.1 cubic feet, so you’ll have plenty of room for your belongings.
Tech and Safety
You’ll get quite a few standard tech features in the 2021 Mazda3:
- Android Auto™
- Apple CarPlay™
- Proximity keyless entry
- Push-button start
- Bluetooth®
- Two USB ports
- HD radio
As for safety, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking are just a few of the features found in every model.
